The Plan

    • 1. Thursday Morning

No more missing your uni friends over the summer, it is time to head to Amsterdam Pride 2019! Grab your bag, print your e-ticket and make sure you've got your passport on you because here we go! Make sure you get to the departure point (on your e-ticket) at least half an hour early and meet your Outgoing Reps who will check you and your group on to the coach before setting off. Outgoing Top Tip: To make the journey fly-by we recommend bringing along some of your favourite DVDs, your comfiest pillow and maybe a blanket too. Also, take plenty of drinks and snacks with you; we will be making stops but some of the services through Europe do not always offer a great choice.

    • 2. Friday Morning

Gooood morning! We have arrived, welcome to the Venice of the North, the cultural mecca of Europe - Amsterdam! This is our home and our reps will help you get your belongings off the coach at the Meininger Hotel Amsterdam City West. On arrival, they will give you a brief introduction to the city, a breakdown of your itinerary if needed and provide you with some hints and tips too. Check-in time is at 15:00 so our staff will direct you to a safe-storage area within the accommodation. Whilst you wait we advise you to grab a bite to eat for brunch. We recommend trying out the Grand Cafe Hermes; it does an amazing club sandwich and is only across the road!

    • 2. Friday Afternoon

15:00 is the standard check-in time so hopefully you will have grabbed some food and got your bearings around where we are staying. If you can't remember or don't know who you have allocated to room yourself with, then our reps will be on hand to help you identify who you are with whilst they are dispensing the keys out. After you have been checked-in, then you are free to explore the city! If you are up for getting involved with any of the extra activities we offer but haven't booked online then ask any member of our in-resort team and they can add you to the tours.

    • 2. Friday Evening

Let the Pride celebrations begin! Amsterdam becomes a bright rainbow of events and parties, so you will really be spoilt for choice! Go and celebrate in one of the most fun and diverse cities in the world. One of the most hilarious events of the weekend is the Drag Queen Olympics, with events such as the Handbag Throw, the 100m Stiletto Sprint, and the Tug-of-War. It starts at 7pm and is definitely worth a watch!

    • 3. Saturday Morning

Rise and shine: the Meininger have a great choice of breakfast, it is served from 6:30-10:30 and is included in your package, so better make the most of it! Your Outgoing Reps will be around for any questions or top tips.

    • 3. Saturday Afternoon

Get ready for the main event: The Amsterdam Canal Parade!!! This is unlike anything you have seen before and cannot be missed. Over 80 amazingly decorated barges float down the canal and put on an incredible show with their onboard DJs, show-stopping themes and impressive dance moves. This is completely unique to Amsterdam Pride and is one of the most memorable highlights of the weekend... it's a no brainer how you'll be spending your Saturday afternoon!

    • 3. Saturday Evening

Head to the Homonument at Westermarkt after the Canal Parade to carry on the celebrations at one of the weekend's best street parties. This goes on until midnight where you can then visit one of the many clubs and bars that are hosting events for Pride. Or head back to the hotel and get some rest ready for more celebrations tomorrow.

    • 4. Sunday Morning

Morning Team, get yourselves down to breakfast and freshen up, ready for yet another awesome day in Dam!

    • 4. Sunday Afternoon

You have plenty of free time to make the most of your final day in this wonderful city. Amsterdam is home to a variety of world-famous museums to suit all interests so why not head to the Museum Quarter? Or, if you fancy a chilled out day, we suggest visiting one of the many parks in the city, like the Vondelpark or Westerpark. Both have hidden gems and cafes within them to explore.

    • 4. Sunday Evening

The official closing party starts at 4pm on Dam square. Don't miss any of the famous artists performing their best songs, and DJs playing the latest dance tunes to keep the party going until the night. This is an amazing way to end the most amazing weekend!

    • 5. Monday Morning

What an adventure! However all good things must come to an end and it's time to check-out. Make sure you have gathered all your belongings and have your passport in your hand-luggage, as it will be checked at customs. You have to be checked out by 10am. Give your key into the rep in the Bar and check your itinerary for your departure time. You will have a few hours to kill so go out and grab a coffee and a waffle, and plenty of snacks for the journey home. Then sadly it's back to reality! Posts plenty of snaps online to make your friends at home jealous of the incredible trip you have just had.
